Peterborough Diocese has been chosen to be part of a national pilot to develop 40 worshipping communities in schools, as part of growing a younger and more diverse church. We are working in 2 primary schools and one secondary to grow a new form of intergenerational church mid-week in school. The pilot is for 2 years.
There are 5 core principles
- Keeping young people’s voices at the centre of leadership decisions
- Articulating a shared purpose to grow a younger and more diverse community of Christian disciples
- Enabling and enhancing partnership between school and church communities
- Intergenerational faith development involving children and their families
- Integrating worship into the regular rhythms, practices, structures and resources of the school’s vision for flourishing of children and adults
We are excited by this opportunity to pioneer new forms of church, in the hope that it might be copied elsewhere as we encourage church and school to work together more closely across the Diocese.
