If you would like to enquire about a baptism (christening), confirmation, wedding or funeral at a church in the Diocese of Peterborough, the first thing to do is to contact the priest at your local parish church. You can find details of all our parishes on our Find-A-Church page.
Baptism and confirmation
In baptism, parents thank God for his gift of life, make a decision to start their child on the journey of faith, and ask for the Church's support. Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey when the candidate affirms their faith into which they were baptised. For more information, including FAQs on Godparents, visit the Church of England’s website to read their sections on christenings and confirmation.

Weddings
Today, more than a quarter of all marriages in England take place before God in the traditional setting of a Church of England church. You're welcome to marry in church whatever your beliefs, whether or not you are baptised and whether or not you go to church.
See the Church of England’s special website for those planning a church wedding.
Funerals
A funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. It is the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world. For help with planning a funeral service, including suggested hymns, prayers and readings, see the Church of England’s website to read more.
