Saturday 15 October saw the much welcomed return of the annual Celebration of Lay Ministry Day following two years of it being curtailed due to covid restrictions.
As well as being the occasion to license a new cohort of lay ministers, this year’s event was also purposed as the three-yearly renewal of all lay minister, lay worker and reader licences.
Bishop Donald hosted the day, starting with coffee and pastries in the Palace, followed by a morning of fellowship, encouragement and teaching in the Cathedral. Friends, incumbents, families and members of the Training and Vocations team joined in celebrating the Eucharist in the afternoon, at which Bishop Donald licensed 16 new lay ministers and lay workers, and relicensed 172 existing licence holders.
