Celebrations take place throughout the 10 days of Thy Kingdom Come

The 10 days of Thy Kingdom Come were a hive of activity across the Diocese as events took place to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the global wave of prayer.

Here are a few highlights from events that took place during TKC but events and celebrations focused on prayer continue throughout our Year of Prayer.

Ascension Day Service prayer stations at All Hallows Church, Wellingborough

All Hallows held a beautiful, sung, evening service to celebrate Ascension Day and the launch of the prayer stations that had been created throughout the church to inspire prayer throughout the week of Thy Kingdom Come.

Come & Pray Days – St Mary’s Church, Peterborough

St Mary’s held two ‘Come & Pray’ days during the week of Thy Kingdom Come.  Those attending could take part in the interactive prayer walk within the church, write a prayer to hang on the prayer line, light a candle or just sit quietly and pray in the beautiful surroundings of St Mary’s either alone or with others.

Thy Kingdom Come Prayer Day – Peterborough Cathedral

As part of both TKC and the Diocesan Year of Prayer, a Prayer Day was held at Peterborough Cathedral on Saturday 7 June. An interactive prayer trail, based around The Lord’s Prayer, was available for visitors to explore throughout the cathedral along with various prayer activities, a simple communion and worship with Bishop Debbie.

Prayer Walk through the benefice of Broughton with Cransley & Mawsley

A route and itinerary were put together to take in all of the three villages that make up the benefice but unfortunately the very wet weather meant that Plan B had to be adopted and an inside gathering took place in each village where a prayer was said for each part of the community listed on the itinerary, as if the route were being walked. After all parts of the route had been prayed for, the day ended with the ‘Prayer During the Day’ service in the Thy Kingdom Come Daily Prayer booklet.
