The annual Explore Day is an informal occasion for those who feel God may be calling them to serve in the church. It is open to anyone and is designed to give a snapshot of the breadth of ways in which it is possible to contribute and minister within the Diocese and wider Church, as well as serving our wider communities.
This year Explore Day was held at the All Saints CEVA School, Northampton with just under 50 attendees. The main focus of the day was to discuss key questions of ‘what bought me here?’, ‘what bells are ringing for me at the moment?’ and ‘where next?’. Several people who minister at the moment or are currently training for ministry, shared their stories in a relaxed and encouraging setting, offering advice and support. Representatives from ministries as diverse as Anna Chaplaincy, Church Army, Anglican Religious Life, Youth Ministry and as well as Ordained and Lay Ministries were on hand to talk and listen during the afternoon.
Revd Haydon Spenceley, Diocesan Director of Ordinands and Director of Vocations and Formations said ‘It is so exciting that so many feel invited by God at the moment to respond to a call to new ministry. We hope and pray that new invitations to ministry were birthed, or senses of call cemented during the day. If you are feeling a sense of an invitation to something new, or someone in your congregation is expressing a sense of call, you do not need to wait for next year’s Explore Day, do put them in touch with me or a member of the Vocation and Formation Team who are available to discuss next steps in discernment.'
