Safeguarding Audit 2025

At the end of February the Safeguarding audit of the Diocese by the INEQE Safeguarding Group will start.  This is part of a national programme, commissioned by the Archbishop’s Council in response to the recommendations of the IICSA Enquiry, to conduct an independent and comprehensive audit of all Church of England dioceses and cathedrals.

This programme will run for 5 years from 2023 to 2028 and its purpose is to make sure dioceses, cathedrals and palaces are doing all they can to create environments where everyone feels safe, valued and respected.

How can I get my voice heard?

A key part of this audit is hearing the voices of all those who worship and work in the Diocese including employees, clergy, parishioners, worshippers, volunteers and supporters. INEQE really value your opinion and everyone is welcome to share their views and experiences through the survey.

This is an anonymous and confidential survey. Responses will be received directly by INEQE and not by the Diocese. What you tell them will inform the Diocese-specific recommendations of the audit, all of which aim to improve and develop safeguarding practices across the Diocese.

Bishop Debbie said ‘This audit is an opportunity to continue to improve our safeguarding practices and make sure we create a safe church for all. I encourage everyone to take part in the survey to help give a full picture of the good safeguarding work as well as the challenges that exist in our diocese’.

All surveys will be available on the INEQE website at the end of February.  Links will be added here as soon as they are available.
