We are delighted to welcome Andrew Read to the Education Team. Andrew joins us as part-time Associate Director of Education, following eight years as the Director of Education and latterly also Director of Mission and Ministry in Ely Diocese.
Andrew has significant experience of education and mission leadership, with a track record of successfully growing individual and groups of schools, diocesan departments, local and national charities and commercial organisations. He also has an extensive ongoing background in trustee leadership, both as a chair and trustee of multiple national and local charities, sector membership groups and related boards. In particular Andrew remains very active in his work with charities and organisations seeking to address the ever-increasing levels of social inequality and the challenges faced by vulnerable young people and their families.
Alongside his role with us, and having spent a decade as a commercial director in the business sector, Andrew is also currently leading strategic-change projects for several other diocese and national bodies.
Andrew is delighted to have joined the Diocese saying. “Since starting, the Diocese has proven to be so warm and welcoming, and I am grateful to continue my learning and have the opportunity to serve in such a forward-thinking DBE and wider diocesan team.”
Andrew lives nearby in North-West Cambridgeshire with Amanda and son Jamie, enjoying watching sport (he apologies for being a keen Cambridge United fan!) and walking his much fitter dog Simba. Andrew is Canon Emeritus of Ely Cathedral.
