Emily began working for the Diocese in 2022 as the DAC Church Buildings Caseworker and in that time worked hard to improve the delivery and communications of the DAC Office. In her new role as DAC Secretary, Emily will manage the DAC department and assist parishes through the ecclesiastical planning and development processes. Through these processes the DAC department enables and encourages church buildings to be an asset for mission, whilst maintaining the conservation and preservation of these heritage buildings. "I am very much looking forward to continuing to enhance the resources and support for parishes, and getting to know more of you over the coming years."
Emily has worked within the Heritage sector for six years, working in all areas from public heritage to archaeological research for a Local Planning Authority. After becoming a Mature Student at Anglia Ruskin’s campus in Peterborough, she gained a 1st Class BA in Archaeology and Landscape History and then went on to gain an MPhil in Heritage Studies from the University of Cambridge. Her academic interests are in landscape history, conservation, socio-politics and memory within heritage, and access and engagement.
Emily and her husband have two children, three cats, and two bunnies and in their free time enjoy exploring new places, particularly heritage and nature sites, whilst travelling around the UK and Europe. Emily and her family have just returned from Catalunya where they explored every church of every town/village they visited. The most spectacular of these being Santa Maria del Mar de Palamós (C15-C16 church), which was tucked behind tapas restaurants and filled with the most beautiful and moving artwork.
