Chaplaincy ministry lies at the very heart of our calling to be a Church present in the community. Across our Diocese, chaplains serve faithfully in a remarkable range of settings – among schools and colleges, hospitals and healthcare environments, prisons, workplaces, emergency services, universities, and communities on the margins. In each of these contexts, chaplains offer a visible and compassionate Christian presence, meeting people where they are, often at moments of joy, vulnerability, transition, and crisis.
Through this ministry, the love of Christ is made known beyond the walls of our churches—reaching into the everyday lives of individuals and into the rich diversity of the communities we are called to serve. Chaplains accompany people of all faiths and none, offering care, listening, wisdom, and hope. The work is often unseen, yet profoundly transformative, building bridges, deepening relationships, and witnessing God in places where the Church might not otherwise be present.
This evening will be a chance to give thanks for all that our Chaplains offer, to celebrate the varied expressions of chaplaincy across the Diocese, and to encourage one another as we continue in this shared vocation.
