Why Should I Do training?
The House of Bishops has made safeguarding training a core expectation of church life because creating safer environments is integral to the Church’s mission and ministry. Training equips church officers and leaders with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise concerns, respond appropriately, and contribute to a culture where children, young people, and adults can participate safely and flourish. By engaging fully with safeguarding learning, we demonstrate our commitment to caring for all people and fulfilling our responsibilities as a safer Church.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Through training, we learn how to recognise and respond to concerns, understand our roles and responsibilities, and contribute to a culture where children, young people, and adults are respected, heard, and kept safe. Safeguarding training is not simply about following policy; it is about creating church communities where everyone is welcomed, valued, listened to, and protected.
What Training Should I Do?
The Diocese have developed a training matrix below that shows you the training that should be completed to be compliant within your role. This is based on the National Safeguarding Learning and Development Framework and Local Policy.
