We welcome people to new roles in the Diocese
The Revd Andy Stilwell, Curate of Thrapston, Denford and Islip has been appointed Vicar of Wollaston with Strixton and Bozeat and Easton Maudit. He will be instituted to this role by Bishop Alex, Bishop of Brixworth, on 12 November 2026.
The Revd Canon Stephen Webster has been appointed Rural Dean of Oundle. He will be commissioned to this role on 24 August 2026.
The Revd Canon Rowan Williams, currently Canon Chancellor of Peterborough Cathedral, has been appointed Vicar of St Mark’s, Wellingborough. She will be instituted by Bishop Debbie, Bishop of Peterborough, on 2 September 2026. In addition Rowan has been appointed as an Honorary Canon of Peterborough Cathedral.
The Revd Malcolm Ingham, Vicar of Wolston, St Leonard’s, Ryton-on-Dunsmore and St Peter’s Lawford in the Diocese of Coventry, has been appointed Rector of Crick and Yelvertoft with Clay Coton and Lilbourne. He will be instituted to this role by Bishop Debbie, Bishop of Peterborough, on 1 October 2026
We wish farewell to those leaving for pastures new
The Revd Stephen Gamble, Rector of Barrowden & Wakerley w South Luffenham & Morcott w Duddington & Tixover, has been appointed Priest in Charge of Kirkdale with Harome, Nunnington and Pookley in the Diocese of York. He will be licensed to this new role on 11 November 2026.
The Revd Charlie Nobbs left his role as Director of Mission on 2 September. Charlie was ordained into the Diocese in 1999 and has served on the Diocesan staff since 2016. We are thankful for the contribution he has made and for his dedication, commitment and service over the past 10 years.
After over eight years of loyal service, and following his sixtieth birthday, Peter Cantley has retired as Diocesan Director of Education and sends his thanks and best wishes to all Church of England school leaders across Peterborough Diocese and all associated with the Diocesan Board of Education. Peter wishes everyone every success and every blessing for the future.
The Revd Deborah Marsh, Team Vicar in the Oakham Team, has been appointed Assistant Priest of St John the Evangelist, Hyde Park Crescent in the Diocese of London. She will be licensed to this role on 27 September 2026.
The Revd Canon Michael Moore, Vicar of St Mary’s Peterborough, is to retire from this role on 18 October 2026.
Fiona Exton, who has provided administrative support to the Diocesan Director of Ordinands for many years is to leave the Diocese at the end of September. Fiona has given long and faithful service to the Diocese of Peterborough, offering careful and committed support to the work of vocations, formation and ordinands. Her work has often taken place quietly in the background, but it has been greatly valued by those who have worked alongside her and by those whose journeys of discernment and formation she has supported.
Alex Tolley, EA to the Bishop of Peterborough is to leave the Diocese at the end of September after 19 years service to the Diocese. As many of you will know, Alex has held a variety of roles during that time and has made a significant contribution to the life and work of the Diocese. We are deeply grateful for Alex’s faithful service and the contribution she has made to the mission and ministry of the Diocese over nearly two decades. We give thanks for those changing their roles within the Diocese
The Revd Canon Paula York, Vicar of Wellingborough All Hallows and Wellingborough All Saints has been appointed Rector of Kettering St Peter and St Paul with St Michael and All Angels and Priest in Charge of All Saints Kettering. She will be instituted and licensed to these roles by Bishop Alex, Bishop of Brixworth on 29 November 2026.
Paula will continue as Dean of Women’s Ministry and as an honorary Canon of Peterborough Cathedral.
