We welcome people to new roles in the Diocese
The Revd Nicholas Radford-Powell, Curate for the Wirksworth Team Ministry in Derby Diocese has been appointed Vicar of St Alban the Martyr Northampton. He will be instituted and licensed to this role by Bishop Alex, Bishop of Brixworth on 17 November 2026.
The Revd Andy Stilwell, Curate of Thrapston, Denford and Islip has been appointed Vicar of Wollaston with Strixton and Bozeat and Easton Maudit. He will be instituted to this role by Bishop Alex, Bishop of Brixworth, on 12 November 2026.
The Revd David Holland, Assistant Curate at St Francis Luton in St Albans Diocese has been appointed Associate Minister at Emmanuel Northampton. He will be licensed to this role by Bishop Alex, Bishop of Brixworth on 22 October 2026.
The Revd Tracy Pegram, Priest in Charge of Wootton Benefice, has been appointed Assistant Rural Dean of Northampton. This is in addition to her current roles and responsibilities. She will be commissioned by the Ven Richard Ormston, Archdeacon of Northampton on the 28 October 2026.
The Revd Katrina Hutchins, Rector of Mears Ashby & Hardwick & Sywell w Overstone has been appointed Rural Dean of Wellingborough. This is in addition to her current roles and responsibilities. She will be commissioned by Bishop Alex, Bishop of Brixworth on 5 November 2026.
We wish farewell to those leaving for pastures new
The Revd Heather Lowe, Rector of Brigstock with Stanion and Lowick and Sudborough, is to retire from this role on 7 November 2026.
The Revd Stephen Gamble, Rector of Barrowden & Wakerley with South Luffenham & Morcott with Duddington & Tixover, has been appointed Priest in Charge of Kirkdale with Harome, Nunnington and Pookley in the Diocese of York. He will be licensed to this new role on 11 November 2026.
The Revd Canon Michael Moore, Vicar of St Mary’s Peterborough, is to retire from this role on 18 October 2026. Michael has been awarded the title of Canon Emeritus of Peterborough Cathedral from this date.
The Revd Annabel Copeland, Associate Vicar of Oundle with Ashton & Benefield with Glapthorn has been appointed Rector of the Kingsdown Benefice in the Diocese of Rochester. She will be licensed to this role on the 3 February 2027.
We give thanks for those changing their roles within the Diocese
The Revd Canon Paula York, Vicar of Wellingborough All Hallows and Wellingborough All Saints has been appointed Rector of Kettering St Peter and St Paul with St Michael and All Angels and Priest in Charge of All Saints Kettering. She will be instituted and licensed to these roles by Bishop Alex, Bishop of Brixworth on 29 November 2026. Paula will continue as Dean of Women’s Ministry and as an honorary Canon of Peterborough Cathedral.
We remember
It is with sadness that we announce the death of the Revd Peter Morrell. Peter was ordained in the Diocese in 2008 after a long career in law, initially as a barrister and latterly a judge. Peter served in the Oundle Deanery and provided faithful pastoral care, traditional worship, and a well-considered sermon. Peter brought a natural warmth to his ministry and related easily to those around him. He will be fondly remembered by many in the Oundle Deanery.
It is with sadness that we announce the death of the Revd Antoninette (Toni) Smith. Toni was Rector of Great Harrowden with Little Harrowden & Orlingbury & Isham with Pytchley until March 2021. She then held Permission to Officiate in the Diocese. There will be a celebration of life service at St Peter and St Pauls Church, Sywell, Northamptonshire, NN6 0BQ on Friday 30 October at 1.30pm.
