With divorce rates increasing and so many in our communities affected by the emotional impact of relationship breakdown it is good to know that there are volunteers in the diocese who are working to support those affected.
221 is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation, run by volunteers and committed to helping people who are finding it hard to cope with all the emotional and practical difficulties they face after the break-up of a relationship. They provide support groups and a telephone helpline and know that the support of others who have been in a similar situation and a listening ear at crucial times can make all the difference to those who are facing an uncertain future.

But 221 needs our help to continue to provide its crucial work and is looking for churches across the diocese who are prepared to act as hubs – providing a space for the group to meet in a private room, either in the church or associated building, so the groups can reach more of those who need their support.
Archdeacon Richard has seen the impact that 221 has had and said; ‘Marriage break ups happen but many of us prefer not to address the issues head on. 221 (Two to One) provides a helping hand to those who need support at a crucial point in their lives. We can easily help them to support people simply by offering them a space in our churches. For many years Oundle church has been involved in the work of 221 and many of us have seen the impact of this valuable ministry. I commend you to consider helping this local charity’.
