Steve Benoy, Bishop’s Chaplain and Cathedral Canon Missioner, is undertaking a prayer centered walk through all our deaneries in the period between Ascension and Pentecost as part of the global Thy Kingdom Come Prayer movement.
Started in 2016 by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, this movement has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer, inviting all to deepen their own relationship with Jesus, pray for others for come to faith and pray for the empowerment of the Spirit that we would be effective in our witness.
Steve has committed to this prayer pilgrimage to bring the communities of our diocese together in prayer. Starting in Brackley, and walking through one or two deaneries a day, Steve plans to visit communities, pray, and share fellowship with others as he walks approximately 15 miles every day. Each day will conclude with a special prayer event. He will reach the end of his pilgrimage on Pentecost Sunday at the City Praise service in the Cathedral.
Steve said; ‘Prayer is central to our lives as Christians and praying for others to come to faith is one of the most transformative things we can do. I am looking forward to walking through the varied landscapes of our diocese, meeting with others in fellowship and hearing stories of how the good news of Jesus is changing lives and bringing hope to our communites’.
