Welcome to Sam Hewerdine

We are delighted to welcome Sam Hewerdine to our Safeguarding Team in the role of Safeguarding Support Officer. Sam will be developing how we utilise the Parish Dashboard across the Diocese and will provide administrative support to the team.

Sam joins us after most recently working as a teacher of Food Technology and Humanities in a local secure unit for young females with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. Prior to that he worked in Welfare Support for CrossKeys, a local housing association. This support team was aimed at assisting those most in need of an extra helping hand. This could be signposting to therapies, NHS support, education programmes or help with utility bills. In this role Sam worked closely with the local Trussel Trust in distributing food bank parcels and vouchers.

Sam is excited to be working in the Diocese and said, ‘I look forward to putting my existing experience to good use and continuing the Safeguarding journey in the Diocese.’

Sam is from Peterborough and lives with his wife Sophie and daughter Ivy. They are currently, excitedly awaiting the arrival of baby number 2.  When not working he enjoys time with family, running, swimming, and supporting (in his words) ‘the mighty POSH ‘(Peterborough United).
