On a beautifully sunny, but slightly blustery, Wednesday, Bishop Debbie and Peter Cantley, Director of Education, along with the Revd Dawn Stokes from Holy Cross Church in Daventry, were special guests at the Easter Service led by children from Monksmoor Park CE Primary School.

The service, which was all delivered in the form of a play, was performed by the children from year 3 and 4 of the school and presented outside with a fabulous backdrop depicting both the tomb and the hill of Golgotha where Christ was crucified. The acting was great, with many of the children learning and reciting all their lines. All the children had made a great effort with wonderful costumes and props and even the added excitement of two miniature donkeys.
All the children from the school, along with their parents were invited to see the play and join in with the songs and actions which were led by the worship team from Holy Cross Church in Daventry.
After the service Bishop Debbie was invited to judge the Easter gardens competition, which was a tough job, as there were so many gardens on show which had been created, with huge creativity and a brilliant understanding of the Easter story across all the years.
The school is a new addition to Daventry, opening its doors in 2018 with just 11 reception children. The school is now oversubscribed and this year their first ‘leavers’ from year 6 will move on to secondary school.
The school has just joined The Rutland Learning Trust, which, despite its name, supports schools across several counties; 12 of their 13 schools are Church schools in the Diocese.
