Vocations Champions in Peterborough Diocese
We welcome enquiries to explore ministry in the Church from anyone – at any age and from any background. Yet we know that sometimes our own presumptions overlook the qualities which some people offer. At other times, some people ‘self-select’ out because they can’t see ‘someone like me’ serving within the Church. We need to have our eyes open to all that the Lord is doing, and not exclude those whom God is calling. If the Church is to reconnect with the whole of society, we need ministers and priests to emerge from all backgrounds and generations.
The Champions below are available to discuss vocation and ministry with people of different backgrounds, concerns or interests, and ensure that these are always central to the wider work of the Vocation and Formation team.
Young People – supporting people in their teens and twenties explore a life in ministry
The Revd Jenny Paddison - Oakham Archdeaconry As Young Vocations Officer for the Oakham Archdeaconry, I am available, enthusiastic, nay delighted to meet with young people exploring their future lives in company with God and learning what He may be calling them to. It is my privilege to walk with people through that journey of discovery, as a listening ear and sounding board for their thoughts, giving occasional suggestions and referrals. Most of all my role is to encourage prayer and listen to God as suggested in 1 Samuel 3.9: "if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’" jenny.paddison@peterborough-diocese.org.uk

Ruth Alexander - Northampton Archdeaconry My name is Ruth Alexander and I am the Student and Young Adults Mission Leader for St Giles Church in Northampton. I have recently been appointed as the Young Vocations Officer for the Northampton Archdeaconry. I am excited to get going with this position in the Diocese, as it fits so nicely with my current role. I am passionate about the church getting discipled well and from there, finding a source of training to walk in the ministry role that God has for them in the church. I am excited as this new generation rises up and runs after God’s will in their lives. The church really does have a bright future as we invest in the younger generation. |
