In recent months Elijah Borbor has been writing original Christian raps and performing them to backing tracks at local church events. After taking part in a Churches Together event in Kettering in July, he recently performed at ‘Encounter’, Christ the King’s new evening service.
For the service, Elijah was invited to explore the theme Encounter, drawing inspiration from Acts 9:1–22 and Saul’s life-changing meeting with Jesus on the road to Damascus.

Corinne Stefanowicz, Parish Support Worker for the Diocesan Children and Youth Team and Worship Leader at Christ the King said: “We are all so proud of Elijah. Every time we are blown away by what he writes and the way he performs it. Elijah told me this last one on Saul’s encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus was written in under an hour… God has given him such a gift and it’s an honour that he shares that with us at church.”
Elijah now regularly performs at Encounter, a seeker-friendly evening service with young leaders at the front. Services take place at 6pm on the first Sunday of the month at Christ the King, Kettering. Elijah will be rapping at the service on Sunday 1 November.
Elijah’s inspiring performance shows the remarkable creativity of young people and the diverse ways worship can flourish in our churches. His gift for writing and rapping offers an encouraging reminder that faith can be expressed in fresh and unexpected ways.
I met Jesus on the road, now I’m walking in his name
Encountered by the Trinity, I’m breaking every chain
And I learned a lesson, but the lessons aren’t the same
If a Christian is happy, then I’m happy to proclaim
“I am Jesus, I’m the one who you oppose”
So, it’s in Acts 9 where the message really grows
It is what he chose, miracles like those are by the Holy Ghost
Paul was cured from being blind, it’s really how it goes
I will say the word again
I’m encountered through the Bible, do not turn against
He is major in my life
I’m walking in his steps
I might have found him, but I want to go and search again
Rapping in this church again
I carry burdens, but the burdens are in the past
I pray to God and pray to watch me till the very last
I know that praising God Almighty makes the others laugh
If he’ll change your life forever, he will do it fast
Has he encountered you?
Has he found you?
Where did he meet you?
Did he surround you?
In all your days of life, have you checked around you?
He will save you at the times where it has drowned
He met me on the way to tell me what I’m bound to
Come to Christ the King, I’m pretty sure he’ll find you
He loves you as you are, I know he doesn’t mind you
Encounter God and your life will always shine through
Amen!
