Welcome to Eve Copeland

We are delighted to welcome Eve Copeland to our Safeguarding Team in the role of Diocesan Safeguarding Training Officer.

Eve joins us after working most recently specialising in leadership and management training and development across all levels of leadership and management with local and international companies. Eve’s career began in teaching: she is a former qualified primary teacher and SENCO with her final role leading on Inclusion. Before leaving education, she enjoyed her role as a specialist teacher at Stibbington Outdoor Education Centre.

In her parish, Eve sits as member of her local church's parochial church council (PCC), and has the responsibility for Parish Safeguarding Officer, which she has held since 2022. Alongside her church roles, Eve is currently Vice-Chair of the Governing Board at her children’s local primary school, where she supports the chair with the strategic direction and has responsibilities for Mathematics and Equalities.

Safeguarding has been central to Eve’s work throughout her career. She’s passionate about helping churches understand how to create safe, supportive environments for worship and mission. In her role as Safeguarding Training Officer, Eve will bring warmth, clarity, and deep commitment to every session—empowering others to embed safeguarding into the heart of their ministry.

Away from working and volunteering, Eve is married with two children not forgetting the two dogs. When she gets time, Eve is either playing netball, or walking the dogs.

Eve joins the team at a time of exciting growth, and she is going to use this opportunity to ensure training can be delivered as effectively as possible creating more localised links for training. Her vision is to develop the relationships within the twelve deaneries to be able to meet the needs of the parishes. She is also delivering leadership safeguarding training to equip parish leaders with the tools they need to foster safe and welcoming communities. Looking forwards, Eve is also striving to establish a strong team of volunteer trainers who can deliver effective safeguarding training.

For all safeguarding training, or to find out how you could register your interest for training others, you can contact the team through the training email at training@peterborough-diocese.org.uk
