Information about the events for Parish Safeguarding Officers, including Network Events, PSO Induction training, drop-in sessions with the safeguarding team and one-off special events or training which may be of interest.

Parish Safeguarding Officer Network Events

We have emailed out to our PSOs the slides from our most recent PSO Network Event, where Matthew from ThirtyOne:Eight provided training about DBS checks.  ThirtyOne:Eight’s eligibility checker can be found by following this link, which is a useful tool to help you decide the level of DBS check required for any role within the church.  If you do not have access to ThirtyOne:Eight, please email us on safeguarding@peterborough-diocese.org.uk and we can help you sign up to their services.

We have set the dates for the next PSO Networking Events and you can book your place via Eventbrite.

The dates for network events in 2027 are currently being finalised and they will be added here with the details for how to book when this has been done.

Sunday 22 November 2026 – Save the Date

There will be two services at 3pm on this day, one in each Archdeaconry. Both services will be followed with refreshments.

For PSOs in the Archdeaconry of Northampton, Archdeacon Richard will welcome you to St Francis, Duston (Northampton).

For PSOs in the Archdeaconry of Oakham, Archdeacon Alison will welcome you to Christ the King, Kettering.

Invitations to this event will be sent out shortly to all Parish Safeguarding Officers, with a link to RSVP so that we have a guide for numbers.

 

Monthly PSO drop-ins

These take place on the second Tuesday of each month at 12 noon via Teams.

Dates for the remainder of 2026:

  • 10 November
  • 8 December

You’re welcome to drop in and get advice from one of the team on issues related to safeguarding training, DBS, specific cases and general parish safeguarding compliance. If you’re new to the role please come and say hello.

To register to attend, please complete this short Microsoft Form by 12 noon on the day before the drop in session you wish to join.  The Teams link for the meeting will be emailed to all who have registered usually at around 14:00 on the day before the meeting.

 

PSO Induction Session Dates

We have one more PSO Induction session planned for 2026.  Please click the link to book via Eventbrite:

Tuesday 8 December 18:00 to 21:00

The induction sessions cover the expectations for the role, how the role of PSO fits within the parish structure and relates to the PCC, information about the Parish Safeguarding Dashboard and Hub, how the PSO works with the DST, and includes some case studies to support what has been learnt.

While the Induction is aimed at those who are new to the PSO role, all PSOs are welcome to attend an Induction session, regardless of how long you have been in the role for.

The dates for the Induction Sessions in 2027 will be released soon; these are being planned so that they do not happen in the same month as a PSO Network Event.
