Greetham’s bells ring again: A village united in faith, memory and hope

Throughout the project, the community stayed closely connected. Regular updates on the village Facebook page built anticipation and encouragement, while local media helped share the story more widely. Today, the bell ringers have returned to Friday practices and ring regularly for Sunday services, with new recruits warmly welcomed. 

These bells are more than instruments. They are Greetham’s war memorial. Originally recast and rehung in 1923, they honour those who gave their lives in war. At the village celebration, one resident shared The Story of the Bells, reminding everyone that although those who died never heard them ring, we remember them every time we do. It was a poignant and powerful moment. 

The church offers heartfelt thanks to all who supported the project—individual donors, volunteers, and grant-giving trusts whose generosity made this possible. Together, they have preserved a tradition, strengthened a community, and ensured that the bells of Greetham will continue to ring out in remembrance, worship and hope for generations to come.
